Car rental without a credit card versus renting without a guarantee

The card used for payment and the deposit are two different things. Find out what each means and when zero deposit protection may be available.

Renting Without a Credit Card Does Not Automatically Mean Zero Deposit

"No credit card" and "no guarantee" are phrases often used together, but they don't mean the same thing. The first one describes the accepted payment method or financial instrument. The second refers to the deposit associated with the reservation.

Confusion can lead to wrong expectations at takeover. A customer may think that if they pay with a debit card, there will be no deposit. Another customer may think that a credit card is mandatory even for a zero deposit option. In reality, the two decisions must be examined separately.

What does it mean to rent without a credit card

It means that the company allows booking and payment without requiring the customer to have a credit card. At Wise Cars, credit card is not required. Accepted are:

  • debit card;
  • credit card;
  • bank transfer.

Cash is not accepted. The concrete method and time of payment are confirmed for the reservation.

A debit card must be valid and usable for the agreed transaction. Being accepted does not mean any bank limit, balance or restriction is ignored. Check the availability of funds and any card limits before pickup.

What does guarantee or deposit mean

The deposit is the amount set according to the car, protection and driver profile. His role and conditions are described in the booking and contract.

The amount of the deposit is not only determined by the type of card. I can count:

  • chosen protection;
  • car category;
  • the age of the driver;
  • the age of the permit;
  • eligibility for available options;
  • the specific conditions of the reservation.

Therefore, two people applying for the same period may get different options if their age and experience profile is different.

When the deposit can be zero

For eligible situations, Premium Plus protection may have zero deposit. This possibility must appear in the booking configuration and be confirmed by the team.

Zero deposit does not mean that the car can be used without rules or that any event is covered regardless of the circumstances. The contract, authorized drivers, permitted use and incident obligations remain applicable.

Who cannot choose the no-deposit option

The Wise Cars general rule for total freedom in choosing protections is a minimum of 23 years and at least 3 years of driving license.

Stricter rules apply to drivers under 23 and over 69, and no deposit rental is available. For a person under 23, the minimum experience accepted is 2 years of driving license.

This data is verified before confirmation using your ID and license.

Why we ask for documents before confirmation

Wise Cars asks for your license and ID or pthe support before locking the car. We check the date of birth, the date of obtaining the license and the identity of the driver.

This stage allows the actual options to be presented, not a variant that could be withdrawn at the counter. When picking up, the documents must be presented in original.

Simple examples

Debit Card and Deposit

A customer can pay with a debit card and have a deposit according to the chosen protection. Debit card is accepted, but the deposit does not disappear automatically.

Debit card and zero deposit

An eligible customer may select a Zero Deposit Premium Plus variant and pay by debit card if the option is available and confirmed.

Credit card and deposit

Having a credit card does not automatically eliminate the deposit. If the selected protection includes a deposit, this remains part of the booking conditions.

Young driver with any type of card

A driver under the age of 23 does not become eligible for zero deposit just because they present a credit card. The age and experience rule applies separately.

What must appear clearly before you confirm

  • accepted payment methods;
  • selected protection;
  • the amount of the deposit;
  • kilometer limit;
  • declared drivers;
  • the total of the reservation;
  • additional services;
  • location and period.

Don't rely on an ad headline read off-form. Check the exact option associated with your car and data.

Does an additional driver make a difference?

The additional driver must be declared and verified. The same age and license rules apply. Premium Plus includes an additional driver for free; for the other protections, this is for a fee.

An unregistered person must not drive the car. Omitting it may affect how protection is applied in the event of an incident.

The correct question for the agent

Instead of just asking "do you accept debit card?" ask for full confirmation: "Can I pay by debit card and what is the deposit for the selected car and protection?"

Your answer clarifies both components. For a concrete offer, insert period and location, see the explanations about rent a car protections and read the [frequently asked questions](/frequently asked questions).
