A journey doesn't always end in the city where it started. You can land in Cluj and depart from Bucharest, you can have meetings in several regions or you can continue your vacation without returning hundreds of kilometers just to return the car.
Return car rental in another city is also known as one-way rental. You pick up the car from one location and return it to another company location at the set date and time.
Wise Cars allows return between active locations, against a relocation fee shown in the booking. The possibility and the cost depend on the selected route, not a general value applied to all cities.
What does one-way car rental mean?
In a regular booking, the pick-up and drop-off locations are the same. In a one-way booking, the two locations are different.
For example, you can select:
- pickup in Cluj-Napoca and return to Bucharest;
- pickup in Bucharest and return in Timișoara;
- pickup in Craiova and return in Cluj-Napoca;
- pickup in Sibiu and return to another available location.
Available combinations and costs must be checked for the period chosen. The fact that Wise Cars is based in two cities does not mean that any changes can be made at the last minute without operational confirmation.
Why is there a relocation fee
After return, the car may need to be returned to the original location or moved to where it is needed for the next booking. The process involves time, personnel, fuel and organization between sites.
The relocation fee covers this operation. It is not a hidden fee and does not have to be determined verbally after taking over the car. The Wise Cars system reads the route fare from the database and displays it in the booking calculation.
The cost may vary depending on the distance and direction of travel. For this reason we do not publish in the article a static list of amounts that may become obsolete. The correct value is the one displayed for the selected locations and period.
How to choose the return in another city
In the booking form, you select the pick-up location and the return location separately. After choosing the two locations, the system includes the relocation fee in the cost summary.
Check carefully:
- city and pick-up point;
- the city and point of return;
- the date and time of each operation;
- relocation fee displayed;
- the time required until the next flight or train.
Don't select the same location just to get a lower estimate if you know you'll be returning the car in another city. Subsequent change must be verified by the team and may not be possible.
When one-way service is useful
Returning to another city can save time in several situations.
Return flight from another airport
You can land in one city and find a more suitable return flight from another. Ininstead of returning to the original airport, drop off the car near your final departure.
Circuit through Romania
For a trip that crosses multiple regions, a linear route may be more efficient than a round trip. You save kilometers and a day that could otherwise be consumed just for the return trip.
Business trips
If meetings start in Cluj and end in Bucharest, returning to the capital can reduce lost time and simplify the schedule.
Moving or traveling with luggage
When you have a lot of luggage, repeatedly changing trains or transfers between airports can become difficult. A rental car provides continuity to your final destination.
What happens if you change the city after confirmation
Contact Wise Cars as soon as possible. The team checks the schedule of the car, the availability of the agent at the destination location and the necessary logistics.
The change is valid only after its acceptance. An unanswered message or direct presentation to another location does not automatically change the contract and reservation.
The sooner you notify, the more likely the team can reorganize the car. During busy periods, a change made on the day of the return may not be possible.
Does returning to another city change the fuel policy?
Not. Wise Cars uses the same-to-same policy: you return the car with the same level of fuel as you received it. The rule remains valid regardless of the place of return.
Relocation tax and fuel are different items. Fuel used on your journey is your responsibility and the fee covers subsequent logistics between venues.
What to check before teaching
- Return location address and instructions.
- Confirmed meeting time.
- Fuel level.
- Personal belongings and car documents.
- Margin required before flight or train.
- Contact number received for coordination.
At locations where the procedure involves a shuttle or assisted meeting, follow the instructions received upon confirmation. Do not assume that the handover takes place automatically in the terminal or in a car park of your choice.
Compare the route before you book
One-way service is valuable when the time and mileage saved justify the relocation fee. Compare the cost of a return trip to your original city with the time, fuel, accommodation or additional tickets required for the return trip.
